November 18, 2011: Pamela Stauffer, our 2011-12 Chair, stepped down. At the board meeting on November 10, 2011 the Board accepted her resignation with regret, and Evy Asch became the Acting Chair of the West Rogers Park Community Organization. The members of the board extended their thanks to Pamela for all her hard work and welcomed her continuing participation in the WRPCO Board. The board is moving ahead to implement the ideas generated at the October retreat. The Community Planning Board will continue to meet, and the Education Committee hopes to advance the planning of a multi-school event. Our Green Initiative group is also working on sustainibility in the neighborhood as well as on the Western Avenue project.
WRPCO publicized the Help for Homeowners Resource Fair which provided assistance to homeowners at risk of foreclosure or behind in their mortgage payments. The event was on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bernard Horwich Jewish Community Center at 3003 W. Touhy Ave.
WRPCO's Clean and Green event was held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 9am to 11am. Members helped the neighborhood by cleaning blocks of Western Avenue, met neighbors, recycled old computers, computer cords, mice and VCRs and bring your financial papers for free shredding. The free shredding and computer/VCR recycling was from 9am till 12:00pm at the Devon Bank parking lot 6445 N. Western Avenue.
